  Engagement Story

You're really getting married at Disney?

Yep, we are! The facilities there are beautiful, and the service is wonderful, and most important of all - it's going to be loads of fun! We know a lot of our guests will have to travel to come to our wedding, and we wanted to make it someplace where they could make a vacation out of the trip too!

Where do I stay?

We've set aside rooms at a few Disney hotels for our guests at a special wedding rate. All of the resorts are on Disney property, which means you will have full use of Disney transportation during your stay. To make your reservation, mail in the form enclosed with the Save-the-Date letter we sent you, or call Disney group reservations, or email us and we'll send you the forms.  Please make your reservations early, by September 12th, 2001, so we can make sure you get the discounted rates. After that, the blocked rooms will be released and reservations are based on availability. Here are the hotels where we've reserved rooms, and their rates:

Disney's All-Star Music: $89 /night (plus tax)

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort: $134/night (plus tax)

Disney Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: $323/night (plus tax)

For more pictures and info, try the Resort Photo Gallery - room photos, resort maps, pictures and more.

Do I have to stay at one of these hotels?

No, you may stay wherever you like! However, we can only get the discounted rates for these three hotels. If you wish to stay at another Disney hotel, feel free, but please tell them that you are with our wedding so that we can keep track of where our guests are staying!

When should I make my reservations?

You can start making reservations right now if you like! As soon as you know your plans, make your reservations. Disney will only hold the blocked rooms until September 12, so they can't guarantee your rate after that.

What if I want to go to the Parks?

Disney also offers discounted park tickets to our wedding guests if you would like to visit the parks while you are in the area. These tickets will only be good for October 8-16th and there are various packages available for you to look through. All packages include unlimited visits to Epcot, MGM, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom, and some variations on admissions to DisneyQuest and Pleasure Island. To order the discounted tickets, mail the ticket order form enclosed with the Save-the-Date letter we sent you. Details are on the form, but for planning purposes, here is a summary:

2-Day ticket: Adults: $102, Children: $81 (ages 3-9)

3-Day Ticket: Adults: $152, Children: $121 (ages 3-9)

4-Day Ticket: Adults: $202, Children: $161 (ages 3-9)

5-Day Ticket: Adults $230, Children $182 (ages 3-9)

Pleasure Island Adult tickets: $20.09

There are also other park-hopper type tickets and packages available on the Disney website. Once you figure out how long you would like to stay and what you would like to do while you're there, just figure out what works best for your needs. If you change your mind when you get there, you can always buy tickets (at normal prices) at all the parks and hotels. Please remember  - you do not need a park ticket to come to the wedding and reception!

How do I get there?

If you are from out of town, the easiest way is to fly into Orlando International Airport.  Nearly all major carriers fly to Orlando. From there, you can rent a car, or use a transportation service to get to Disney. (We'll post driving directions later on) If you are staying on Disney property, you will have full use of their transportation services (monorail, bus, ferry boats, etc.).

Some helpful sites for making travel plans:

Transportation Services:

Driving Directions:

  • Excite Maps - just type in Disney World as your destination. Don't forget - SR 528 and SR 417 (two of the major routes to Disney) are toll roads, so bring some quarters!

Just remember, there is transportation from all the parks to each of the Disney hotels, but not from hotel to hotel. There is a monorail stop and bus stop at the Grand Floridian, both which are within walking distance of the Wedding Pavilion. There are no bus stops at the Wedding Pavilion, but there is plenty of parking at both the pavilion and the Grand Floridian.

If you are staying at one of the three hotels listed above (All Star Music, Port Orleans Riverside, or the Grand Floridian), there will be a chartered motorcoach available to take you to the Pavilion for the ceremony, then transport you to the reception, and back to your hotel afterward. The buses will be available to take you back to your hotel during the reception if you need to leave early.

Why should I stay on Disney Property?

These are just a few of the reasons you should consider staying in one of the Disney owned hotels:

  • Legendary service, theming, and attention to detail are part of your entire stay.
  • Disney Guest Service Cast Members handle all your reservations. Enjoy charge privileges on-property and convenient room delivery of your packages.
  • Early Entrance to Disney Theme Parks
  • Get a jump on the fun with selected attractions in a different Theme Park opening early each day.
  • A Disney Midday Break - Head back to your Resort for a nap or a swim, then return to the Parks later in the day!
  • Services for Children - Parents can take a break, thanks to unique child entertainment centers, in-room babysitting, learning programs, and dinner clubs (nominal fee for services; subject to availability).
  • Complimentary Disney Transportation Travel by complimentary bus, boat, or monorail throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

What is there to do around Orlando?

Well, besides the four Disney parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, and the Animal Kingdom), the Disney water parks (Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and  River Country), Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney , Cirque du Soleil and the Downtown Disney, there is lots to do in Orlando!! There is Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, Sea World  and Wet and Wild. For nightlife, there’s Pleasure Island, Universal’s CityWalk, and Church Street Station. There are a few outlet mall shopping areas around Orlando. Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach is approximately 1 hour away on Florida's east coast. Tampa is approximately an hour away as well.

Do I need to buy a ticket to the park to attend the wedding?

No, you do not need a ticket to the parks to come to the wedding. The wedding pavilion and reception are in the resort area, not inside the parks.

What will the weather be like in October?

Hopefully warm and sunny! The average October temperature is around 75 degrees. The temperature will probably be warm during the day, but you may want a light jacket for the evenings - but Florida weather can be unpredictable. Check the Weather Channel for the latest forecasts.

What are Lindy and Scott's plans for the week after the wedding?

We're going to Maui!!! Come back to our Honeymoon page to see pictures.

I need help planning my trip to Disney!
